HE BOARDROOM WAS suddenly quiet. The arguments had been made. The time had come for a decision. It was a decision that nobody felt comfortable making. More than one man wondered how this strange turn of events had come about in the first place.
Events had happened so quickly that it was difficult to sort out the chro-nology. What five years ago would be unthinkable was now being put up to a vote. The vote could change all of apartment wrestling.
"How shall we do it, gentlemen?" asked Ryan McNamara, the man who first suggested the proposition. "Shall we have a voice vote, a show of hands, or a secret ballot?" It was decided to take a secret ballot. Twenty pieces of paper would thus hold the future of apartment wrestling.

After throwing Carak to the carpet, Para wrenches the blonde's lithe legs. Carak, however, retaliates by pulling Para's flowing hair (above). Para gains a significant advantage when she captures Carak in an agonizing backstretcher (top right).
The question would be whether apartment wrestling should be seen on cable television. McNamara is a brilliant cameraman-director whose work is regularly shown at film festivals and avant-garde screenings. When he did a videotape of an apartment wrestling match, his camera became a searching eye, finding the most intense point of action and focusing upon it. The tape was as exciting as only the most wonderfully filmed sports events can be. |

McNamara would be the first to admit that the women in battle made the film so special. He would also be the first to admit that he insisted on using those two women to wrestle.
McNamara must have photographed 150 women before choosing Para and Carak. Para, whom Ryan describes as "a luscious brunette," was easy to select. With her girl-woman face and voluptuous body, she is one of those special women whom the camera loves.
McNamara would have begged her to wrestle, but he didn't have to. Para is an ambitious woman, determined to take full advantage of every opportunity. It didn't take a genius to realize there would be fame and perhaps fortune for the woman on the first apartment wrestling cable show. The winner would be profiled in magazine articles and appear on talk shows. She would have paid to be on this show. She was also determined to do anything to win.
Carak was more difficult to choose. Though an attractive blonde, she does not at first stand out in the crowd of attractive apartment wrestlers. McNamara was not impressed by her at first. Then she asked him to shoot an apartment match in which she was going to wrestle. The cameraman agreed.
After two minutes, McNamara found himself wondering if the camera was playing tricks on him. Carak's face and body radiated in combat; she took on an aura that was facinating. Was it a feeling that had to be experienced in |

person or did it transmit to the camera? McNamara, not trusting himself, waited two weeks before viewing the tape, wanting to make sure he was free from Carak's extraordinary spell. The telecast found him entranced again. Either in person or on tape, Carak was something special. He immediately got her on the phone and asked her to wrestle Para. Carak accepted in delight.
The women had never met in combat, but each had seen the other in action. Neither was especially impressed with the other's ability. Each woman thought she would easily win.
This didn't mean the women weren'training as hard as humanly possible. Each woman knew that this could be the biggest break she would ever have. McNamara's work is always taken seriously by very important people. Modeling jobs, stage and screen work, and celebrity status would go tot the winner. They had to be glorious, the best they could possibly be. For three weeks, the women did nothing but train and plan.
It was a brutal regimen. The worked themselves harder than they'd ever worked before. At the same time, they did nothing to detract from their beauty; these women would look like cheerleaders, not athletes. It was a constant struggle to keep that balance, making sure to maintain a weight that would show their voluptuousness in full bloom. After every workout, they'd go home and plot strategies. Friends were ignored, each woman took a vacation |
