not hear his name called until the third time. Someone was in the office to see him. The fighter who called out to him had an odd look on her face. Now what, he wondered.
Squaring his shoulders, Jacobs stormed into his office and went straight behind his desk without looking to see who was sitting in the chair. He wasn't about to give any visitor the satisfaction of thinking they were more important than him. He would notice them in his own good time.
The sight of Cori sitting before him caused him to stumble ever so slightly before sitting down. While her appearance was somewhat different, she still looked at him like he was roadkill. God how he hated her!
They talked briefly, she was healthy now and wanted to fight again. Unfortunately for him, Cori had never allowed Jacobs to renegotiate her contract. So when she disappeared he was unable to fire her. Well, no matter, he thought, I'll just finish the job this time.
"Princess," he began, "You look great. You know this may just work out perfectly for me. I've got a cancellation tonite and I need an experienced girl to fill in. Feel up to it?"
Cori recognized the slimey tone in Jacobs' voice immediately. Damn! She had hoped to unnerve him a bit more with her sudden appearance.
"Sure," she replied casually, "Whatever you have for me is fine . . . Dick!" The corner of her mouth turned up just a bit. Jacobs grinned back at her. Oh I've got something for you alright, he thought.
Back at her apartment Cori finished her shower and began to get dressed. She ran the meeting with Peter Jacobs over in her mind again and again. It was obvious he was going to try something underhanded, but what? And he seemed so fucking calm! Shit! Well, she would be ready for anything he threw at her. The ring of the doorbell startled her. Michael?
She opened the door, but instead of her friend there were two girls from the club, Molly and Terri. Before she could ask what they were doing there, they lunged at her. Cori deftly
